You’ll see the real pencil drawings and ink brushwork in person! The Opening Reception is on July 23rd from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm CST during Comicopolis! Here, you can meet and chat with me about my comics and the process of making them!
After years after finishing the original Instagram challenge, arranging the pages together, scraping up funds out of my own pocket, I finally have print books to sell to you all!
To remind you all, The Pizza Man is an improvised story about a simple pizza delivery driver, who must drive through insane obstacles to complete his order on time!
This story was completed in June 2020 for the Journey June Art Streak challenge. Journey June is an art challenge for those who want to improve their storytelling.
I took it one to the suggestion of my friend, but I wanted to see if I could do a comic sequence every day for 30 days. It was stressful, and I thought the story was getting too complicated, but it’s a nice notch in my art-making belt!
I was struggling to write a new comic after Shirley’s Day. So I decided to adapt an existing story to save writing time. I got the idea to create a collection of the dumb greentext stories from 4chan, Reddit, and Imgur. Many of these dumb internet posts are outlandish, so they’re a great source of visual ideas for me.
This is the original greentext story. Since it’s anonymous, I have no idea who originally wrote it. So, if someone messaged me claiming they’re the original poster, I’d have to take their word for it.
I made several proofs, and I was just about to go forward on buying prints, but I realized that instead of sitting on many floppy comics that don’t sell that much, I’d make a big trade paperback containing not just my comics work so far, but behind the scenes stuff like my original pencil art and inks! I can even include other illustrations and sketches in the book to show off more of my artwork!
I’m pushing hard on getting The Pizza Man, the comic I completed for Journey June last year, ready to print! At the time of this printing and posting, I’ve sent out an order for a print proof! Once I smooth out any more printing and color kinks, the physical book will be ready to sell on my Etsy store by Mid-Fall!
